District Assessments
The Newark Public Schools administers an array of assessments to students in every grade, which monitors their progress in meeting the state’s standards and learning the district’s curriculum. These assessments, if utilized appropriately inform the professional practice of teachers, administrators, and PRC/504 Teams. The various assessment results provide PRC/504 teams with the academic strengths and weaknesses a student experiences and assist in in developing subsequent intervention plans.
However, too often, we are not aware of all the assessments that are given in each grade and how to interpret their results. If PRC/504 teams had this information they would be in a better position to collect meaningful academic data, including questions to ask, which can also build capacity to utilize this data. The hyperlinks below will take you to Newark's grade level assessments and how to utilize them to identify each student’s academic strengths and weaknesses. In this endeavor, we utilize NTU's CPI checklists to better better align the processes with the general education curriculum and state standards.
