Special Education Staff Development Modules The Newark Public Schools, the Newark Teachers Union (NTU), and the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN) recognize the need for ongoing and embedded staff development to improve teaching and learning and the performance of students with disabilities. To facilitate this process, we collaborated on developing these professional development modules that target major components of special education processes, which address identified district needs. In this endeavor, we fully integrated the state's standards and corresponding framework activities and assessments. This resource can be utilized by individual staff members and/or school-based activities. Clicking on the tabs on the left side will take stakeholders to the corresponding resources. In addition, if stakeholders want to get back to the Home Page, or any of the staff development modules, click on the hyperlinked references on the bottom of each page. These staff development activities will be revised and expanded, based on student and staff needs, district priorities, feedback from stakeholders (contact Mitchel Gerry mgerry@nps.k12.nj.us or mgerry@ntuaft.com ), as well as changes in legal mandates.
